Evening of Recollection

Recollections are generally two hours long. They consist of a series of activities designed to form one’s spiritual life. They include:

• A preached meditation, wherein a priest talks on a spiritual topic for about half an hour. His listeners may listen and quietly reflect on his words, or conduct their own silent conversation with God.
• An extended examination of conscience wherein the leader reads certain points of examination aloud while other participants reflect on them. These examinations explore one’s interior attitudes and likeness to the Lord.
• An opportunity to engage in spiritual direction and/or sacramental confession.
• Eucharistic adoration and Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament.
